NORTHERN ETHIOPIA HISTORIC ROUTE BY CAR (12 Days / 11 Nights)

Day 1: ADDIS ABAB – city tour of Addis Ababa. Hotel
Day 2: ADDIS ABABA –DEBRE MARKOS : Leave Addis on the northern outlet to Debre Markos. Stop for a short visit to the 16th century                monastery of Debre Libanos and the near by unique Portuguese bridge. Night at Debre Markos . Hotel .
Day 3-4: Bahir Dar with a visit to the Island Monasteries on Lake Tana. Hotel
Day 5: GONDAR : Short drive to Gonder and visit the 17th century royal castles and palaces and the old standing mural painting church of               Debre Birhan Silassie. Hotel.
Day 6-7: AXUM drive through a chain of Simien Moutain and Tekeze river gorge. Visit the attractions in Axum such as the colossal stelae, Tsion church of Axum, and the temple of Queen Sheba and the park inscription of Ezana. Hotel
Day 8: Drive to Mekelle with a short visit to the 5th century BC temple of Yeha. Hotel in Mekele.
Day 9-11: Drive to Lalibela and visit of the 12th century rock- hewn Churches of Lalibela. Excursion by mule or by car in the surrounding churches in Lalibela. Hotel in Lalibela .
Day 12: Flight to Addis Ababa and evening departure back home.
